CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — Breeze Airways is adding a new flight option from Charleston to Florida and putting a seasonal pause on its route to Newark, New Jersey, officials announced Monday.
West Virginia International Yeager Airport said in a news release that the airline is adding BreezeThru service to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport beginning May 26, 2027.
The BreezeThru service includes a brief intermediate stop where passengers will remain on the flight, the news release said. The flight will operate on Wednesday and Saturdays.
“Breeze’s expanding service continues to create more travel options for passengers throughout our region,” Dominique Ranieri, CEO and Airport Director of West Virginia International Yeager Airport, said in the news release. “Fort Lauderdale service gives travelers another convenient way to reach South Florida, while Breeze’s broader schedule provides additional opportunities to connect to destinations beyond our nonstop markets.”
Elsewhere, Breeze is pausing flights to Newark Liberty International Airport after Jan. 3, 2027, during what it calls a “low-demand period.” That service is set to resume on Thursdays and Sundays in May 2027.
“We know Newark service is important to our passengers, and we have heard the questions surrounding the upcoming seasonal pause,” Ranieri said. “We want our travelers to know that the route itself has not been permanently canceled. We will continue to work closely with Breeze as schedules are finalized.”
Breeze launched nonstop service between CRW and Newark in November 2024, providing the region with convenient access to the New York metropolitan area.
