Ann Rascoe’s artwork on display at the memorial
Beneath a quiet morning sky, hearts joined as one at George M. Steinbrenner Field as community members, first responders and veterans gathered for the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial Ceremony. The stadium’s World Trade Center Memorial anchored by replica Twin Towers on a Pentagon-shaped base served as a powerful backdrop.
The emotional heart of the ceremony beat brightest through a deeply moving community art exhibition, highlighting a powerful creative tribute. Created by, Ann Rascoe, a resident at the Toby Weinman Residence on the Menorah Life campus in St. Petersburg, who was welcomed as an honored guest. Poured from a place of deep remembrance, Rascoe’s three 9/11 prints were donated to the Veterans Art Center in Tampa. The original paintings belong to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City. More than just canvas and paint, her artwork created a visual sanctuary where visitors paused to find shared comfort and reflection.
For Rascoe, seeing her three paintings displayed at the center of such a historic milestone provided a profoundly meaningful platform that validated her artistic purpose. This wonderful tribute beautifully demonstrated how creative expression empowers seniors and honors their personal history, giving them a vibrant way to share their living legacy with the community.
