Thrive Academy, a school in Cape Coral for students who are on the autism spectrum, is celebrating the opening of its newly expanded space on Tuesday.

The academy serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade, focusing on communication skills, core academics, and helping them transition to life beyond school.

The renovated building provides more space for students and families, along with services such as applied behavior analysis and occupational therapy. Sensory-friendly features are also included in the new design.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that about one in 31 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism. This expansion reflects the growing demand for accessible education and therapy for children and teens with autism.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
