TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Cases of whooping cough are at a 5-year high in Florida, with 1,079 confirmed cases so far in 2025, according to data from the Florida Health Charts.
The confirmed cases were within the period of January 1 to October 4 across all the counties in Florida.
More news out of the Big Bend:
In 2020, the total number of confirmed cases was 162. In 2021, the number of confirmed cases went down to 25. In 2022, Florida’s whooping cough confirmed cases went up to 26. The number then went up to 51 in 2023.
In 2024, the number of confirmed whooping cough cases ballooned to 590. The total number of confirmed cases is now at 1,079.

Madison County had 13 reported cases in 2024 but the cases decreased to three confirmed cases in 2025.
Suwannee County confirmed cases went from one in 2024 to eight in 2025.
