Six years after making her first trip to the World Series with the Tampa Bay Rays, Princeton softball alumna Danielle Dockx ’18 is headed back to the Fall Classic, this time as Tampa Bay’s Director of Position Player Programming.

The Rays secured their third American League pennant Monday night with a 7-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series, advancing to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2026 World Series. Game 1 is set for Friday at 8 p.m. ET in Milwaukee.

Dockx, who joined the Rays organization in 2018 through Major League Baseball’s Diversity Fellowship Program, was promoted to her current role in October 2025. As Director of Position Player Programming, she oversees the development of individualized training plans for the organization’s minor league position players.

The promotion marked another step in a professional path that began shortly after Dockx completed her Princeton softball career. Following her 18-month fellowship, she joined the Rays’ baseball development department, working to connect the organization’s front office with its minor league coaching staffs and help translate player evaluations into development plans.

At Princeton, Dockx helped the Tigers win Ivy League championships in 2016 and 2017. A four-year contributor in the middle infield, she earned honorable mention All-Ivy League recognition as a senior in 2018, when she hit .304 and served as a team captain. She graduated with a degree in ecology and evolutionary biology.

Dockx was also part of Tampa Bay’s organization during its 2020 American League championship season, when the Rays advanced to the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Now, she has another opportunity to be part of a World Series championship as Tampa Bay seeks the first title in franchise history.

The Rays and Brewers open the best-of-seven series Friday in Milwaukee, with Games 1 and 2 scheduled for October 23 and 24 before the series shifts to St. Petersburg for Game 3 on October 26.
