PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (WFLA) — An animal hoarding investigation led to 124 cats being surrendered from a home in Florida.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department said animal control personnel were called to a home on Southwest Warwick Street after concerns about the number of cats inside and their living conditions.
Animal control reported unsanitary conditions inside the home, including accumulated feces and deceased kittens.

Two of the three residents at the home were issued citations for hoarding and failure to provide medical attention to animals, police said.
The cats are currently being cared for at the Port St. Lucie Animal Control facility and the Humane Society of St. Lucie County.
Many of the cats are friendly and are expected to become available for adoption once their medical needs are addressed.
Police said the criminal investigation remains “active and ongoing.”
