FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — More than a day after a deadly hit-and-run in Fort Myers, police have yet to release the victim’s identity or any information about the driver.

The incident happened Monday on Plantation Road near Colonial Boulevard.

Security cameras may have captured some of what happened Monday. At the Honda dealership near the scene, a man said he reviewed security video that appears to show a vehicle slow down and drive away.

He also claims several other drivers went around the person lying in the road without stopping. Just down the road at Sideline Bar and Grill, the owner said he didn’t even know anything had happened until police showed up asking for his security video.

He showed WINK News that footage where you can barely make out flashing emergency lights and cars being turned around. The man at Honda said police asked them not to share their security footage.

When WINK News reached out to Fort Myers police, they would only say this remains an active investigation. WINK News is still working to find out who was killed and who may have been responsible.
