More details have been released about the Fort Pierce man accused of flashing women walking the South Causeway Bridge alone.
Kylechristian Kennedy, 27, was arrested Oct. 16 and charged with two counts of indecent exposure, or exposure of sexual organs, in two separate cases, according to St. Lucie County court documents and Fort Pierce police reports.
In the first case, a woman was on the bridge just before 6 p.m. Oct. 5 when she saw a man who had exposed his genitalia to her on Aug. 26, according to reports. After each incident the woman was able to take a photo of the man.
The woman said she had parked on the south side of the bridge near the Fort Pierce Yacht Club and began walking eastbound, according to reports. When she stopped near the top of the bridge and turned to look at the water, she saw a man wearing all black walking up behind her. She recognized him from the previous incident, but his hair appeared shorter.
When she turned back to toward the man, she saw him engaging in lewd conduct as he walked past her while carrying a skateboard in his left hand, according to reports. She said he briefly made eye contact with her and smirked as he passed her.
During the previous incident, she had been walking on the north side of the bridge when a man approached from behind carrying a skateboard, according to reports. After she moved aside to let him pass, she saw he had exposed himself before he passed her.
The man continued walking without speaking to her, and the woman became uncomfortable and stopped walking, according to reports. The man later stopped ahead of her on the bridge. When she turned around to walk back toward her vehicle, the man also turned around and began walking behind her again.
The woman repositioned herself to allow the man to pass her again, and then she crossed to the opposite side of the bridge by climbing over the concrete barrier to distance herself from him, according to reports. On the second pass, the man’s clothing had been pulled up, and he no longer appeared to be engaging in lewd behavior.
In the second case, another woman had parked her vehicle at the River Walk Center on Indian River Drive about 2:30 p.m. Oct. 14 and began walking eastbound on the south side of the bridge, according to reports. While walking, she noticed a man approaching her from behind holding a skateboard.
The woman said she felt uneasy about his presence, so she stopped to allow him to pass, according to reports. She had her phone out, appearing to take a photo of the water.
As he passed her, she saw his genitalia, according to reports. She said the man turned his body to face the water, appearing to position himself so passing vehicles couldn’t see him.
The woman said she was shocked by the incident but didn’t initially call 911 until a coworker advised her to do so, according to reports. Police officers recognized the man from previous interactions with him near the main St. Lucie County Kilmer Branch Library in downtown Fort Pierce.
Kennedy was taken into custody Oct. 16, according to reports. When he was shown the photo taken Oct. 5, he told officers it was probably him, but he couldn’t confirm it because many other people looked like him and carried skateboards, according to reports. He later told officers the only evidence they have is a photo of him walking down the bridge.
The woman reviewed a photo lineup at the Fort Pierce Police Department and confirmed Kennedy was the man who exposed himself and was lewd, according to reports.
He remained in St. Lucie County Jail without bail as of Oct. 21 because he violated his probation for a previous conviction for exposure of sexual organs, according to the jail’s website and court documents. He was supposed to be on probation until September 2027.
Kennedy’s criminal history includes a conviction for a first offense of exposure of sexual organs on Feb. 25, 2021, and a conviction for a second offense of the same offense on Sept. 12, 2023, according to reports.
Law enforcement officials believe Kennedy may have done this to more people, said police Maj. Michael Santiago.
They are asking anyone with information to contact the Fort Pierce Police Department at 772-462-6800 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at tcwatch.org to remain anonymous.
