The nationally-ranked Chaminade-Madonna Lions (6-2) travel to Fort Lauderdale on Thursday night for a 6 p.m. FHSAA nondistrict clash at Cardinal Gibbons (6-2), a game originally scheduled for September 18 but postponed twice due to field safety and weather concerns. The matchup brings together two teams riding momentum, with Cardinal Gibbons seeking redemption after last season’s 47-0 loss to the Lions in 2025.

Cardinal Gibbons has transformed its season since stumbling to 2-2 following September losses to Monarch and Coconut Creek. Gibbons has rattled off four consecutive victories, outscoring Plantation, Dillard, Stranahan and Flanagan by a combined 207-18 while posting three consecutive shutouts before last week’s 51-18 win at Flanagan. Senior quarterback Tyler Chance has orchestrated the surge, completing 18 of 30 passes for 250 yards and five touchdowns in the victory over Flanagan.
Chance has thrown for 1,830 yards and 20 touchdown passes this season, distributing to a balanced receiving corps led by sophomore Javian Norwood’s 48 catches for 460 yards. Four-star Miami commit Demarcus Deroche, a senior tight end, has been a red-zone weapon with 20 receptions for 390 yards and five touchdowns. Senior linebacker Peyton Catronio anchors the defense with nine sacks and junior linebacker Peter Theodore has added eight.
Chaminade-Madonna has won twice since its 21-20 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas on Oct. 2, including last week’s 47-12 dismantling of McArthur in which junior quarterback Brady Quinn completed 14 of 21 passes for 395 yards and six touchdowns. Quinn has thrown for 1,900 yards and 23 touchdowns this season. Junior Tromon Isaac Jr. leads the Lions with 535 receiving yards and eight touchdown catches, while sophomore Kedarius Rhaney has seven touchdown receptions and junior Armani Strong has six.
