Following a successful sold-out debut that captivated audiences with its daring blend of contemporary dance, theatrical spectacle and aerial artistry, Jacksonville Dance Theatre has announced the return of Circo del Pantano for its second year. Performance will take place at 4 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts.
Conceived and directed by Jacksonville Dance Theatre Artistic Director Rebecca R. Levy, Circo del Pantano transforms the stage into a world where gravity is challenged, imagination reigns and movement extends beyond the floor. Combining the athleticism of modern dance with the excitement of aerial performance, the production invites audiences into a visually stunning and emotionally immersive experience unlike anything else in Northeast Florida.
Circo del Pantano (Circus of the Swamp) celebrates the wild landscapes of Northeast Florida. Inspired by the creatures that inhabit its marshes, rivers and forests, the production follows alligators, opossums, birds and other native wildlife on a fantastical journey through a world shaped by water, weather and wonder.
Building on the momentum of its inaugural season, this year’s production will feature new choreography, expanded aerial elements and a fresh cast of performers pushing the boundaries of physical storytelling. Audiences can expect breathtaking feats in the air, powerful contemporary dance, and the distinctive artistic voice that has become a hallmark of Jacksonville Dance Theatre.
Guest star and Los Angeles based aerialist/dancer Jenn Logan returns to perform her signature role, the Hurricane, in this year’s Circo.
“Returning to Circo del Pantano feels like coming home,” said Logan. “The Hurricane is a force of nature; powerful, unpredictable and deeply connected to Florida’s landscape. I’m thrilled to bring this role back to life and share this unique experience with audiences once again.”
Known for its innovative performances and commitment to artistic excellence, Jacksonville Dance Theatre has spent the past 14 seasons creating original contemporary dance works that challenge conventions and inspire connection. Circo del Pantano represents the company’s continued investment in interdisciplinary performance, bringing together dance, circus arts, theatrical design and daring physical exploration.
