Leon Co. Supervisor of Elections says 2 Border Patrol vehicles seen at early voting site Monday

  • October 23, 2026

Editor’s note: WCTV has corrected this article to reflect that Border Patrol vehicles were seen at the polling location, not ICE.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Leon County Supervisor of Elections Mark Earley says two U.S. Customs Border Patrol vehicles were seen parked at an early voting site in Tallahassee on Monday.

The longtime supervisor said in a Wednesday statement that the Customs and Border Patrol vehicles were parked at the Northeast Branch Library at around 10:15 a.m. That day was also the first day of early voting in Leon County.

According to Earley, that library is their busiest early voting site. He added that while the vehicles stayed for about ten minutes, their office did not receive any calls from voters.

Earley says he has filed a formal complaint with the FBI and they are “taking this very seriously.” He says he’s also been in “close communication” with partners at the local, state and federal level.

The statement continued that voters should not be intimidated by anyone, including law enforcement and government officials.

“I will do everything in my power to ensure that our voters can vote in a fair election free from intimidation or implied threats,” Earley said in a statement.

Earlier this year, Earley spoke with WCTV after concerns arose that federal officials, like ICE or Homeland Security, would be at polling stations.

“Don’t worry, there’s not going to be ICE at the polling stations. We get that question a lot. I get that from our poll workers during training. No, that’s not happening. Okay. I’ve been assured of that from my contacts and our partners at Homeland Security and FBI, FDLE. Yeah. That’s illegal.”
