Serious injuries after patrol car strikes e-bike rider in Orlando

  • October 24, 2026

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 60-year-old man on an e-bike was seriously hurt after being struck by a patrol car in Orlando on Friday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

In a release, troopers said the incident happened just before 4 p.m. on Rio Grande Avenue South and Grand Street.

At the time, the e-biker was riding in front of the patrol car, with both heading north along Rio Grande Avenue, troopers said.

The deputy was responding to a call and the patrol unit had its lights and sirens on as it entered the left-turn lane.

However, the e-bicyclist suddenly veered left, right into the path of the oncoming patrol vehicle, the release says.

The deputy driving the patrol car wasn’t hurt, but the e-bicyclist — identified only as a 60-year-old man from Melbourne — was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

No additional information has been provided at this time.
