TAMPA, Fla. — Florida residents and visitors can get into the state’s national parks for free Tuesday, Oct. 27, in recognition of President Teddy Roosevelt’s birthday.

Roosevelt was the country’s 26th president and a conservationist. During his presidency, he doubled the number of national parks.

Florida is home to three national parks and eight other federally designated sites.

The De Soto National Memorial in Bradenton is one of those sites.
