TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Leon High School Junior Varsity football player was injured in a shooting on Perry Street over the weekend, according to the high school’s football team.
Leon High School Lions head football coach Ricky Bell also confirmed it to WCTV.
Tramon Jackson was among four students who Leon County Schools said were from three different schools and were injured in Saturday night’s shooting.
Tammy Saylor, Jackson’s mother, said her son is stable but in a lot of pain.
She went on to say that they are “saddened by the whole situation.”
“We’re praying for everyone.”
Head Coach Bell said he didn’t know what to think when he heard one of his players had been injured in the shooting. He said he was praying the player would be okay.
Bell said he visited Jackson in the hospital Monday. While he didn’t get a chance to speak with him because he was resting, Bell said Jackson looked “restful” and was “healing.”
Furthermore, the coach said Jackson is a good kid, and they’re hoping he makes a full recovery soon.

“He played defensive back and safety, and he was a good kid, very polite, very mannerly young man, worked hard, showed up every day and did everything we asked him to do so he’s a good boy,” Bell said.
Saylor organized a GoFundMe to assist with Jackson’s recovery-related needs.
Leon County Schools also shared a message on social media Monday regarding the shooting.
The district says it made sure schools were prepared Monday, with counselors available for students who may have been affected.
WCTV is still working to learn more about the other injured students and their conditions.
