Video footage shows Chance lowering the shovel, making an obscene gesture toward the officer, and attempting to walk away.

The officer then commanded her to the ground, placed her in handcuffs, and took her into custody without further resistance.

Police said the damage to the patrol car exceeded $1,200.

Chance was charged with felony criminal mischief for allegedly causing intentional damage to city property.

Authorities noted that no one was injured during the incident.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department stated that acts of intentional property damage, regardless of age, will result in arrest.

The reason for the disturbance that led to the officer’s response remains under investigation.
