ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. —
Right-hander Griffin Jax will start in Game 4 of the World Series for the Tampa Bay Rays as they face elimination against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Jax last started Game 3 against the Guardians in the American League Championship Series and allowed three runs over four innings in a 3-2 loss for the Rays, according to NBC Sports.
This marks Jax’s first career World Series appearance.

“Just one pitch at a time, all I can do,” Jax said in an interview discussing starting Game 4. “Not worried about anything other than just executing one pitch at a time.”
According to MLB, Jax has recorded 103 strikeouts in 99⅓ innings in 2026, averaging just over one strikeout per inning.
The Rays have a lot on the line Tuesday night as the best-of-seven series continues. A Game 4 loss would mean the team’s elimination.
In Game 3, the Brewers crushed the Rays 10-1 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg to take a 3-0 World Series lead.
The Brewers need just one more win to end their championship drought.
The Rays led the AL with 98 wins in the regular season, swept the Yankees in three games in the ALDS and beat the Guardians in six games in the ALCS.
But they made uncharacteristic mistakes on the bases and defensively in the first two games, and completely unraveled at home.
Tampa Bay has also never won a World Series in 29 seasons.
The Rays lost to the Phillies in five games in 2008 and to the Dodgers in six games in 2020.
