Halloween is creeping up, and as little monsters and masked heroes prepare for tricks and treats, Tampa police are boosting patrols to help keep the spooky fun night a safe one.
The Tampa Police Department says additional officers will be deployed both in uniform and plainclothes. The patrols will put an emphasis on impaired driving and “deterring reckless behavior” to improve public safety.
Increased patrols will begin Friday, Oct. 30, and run through Sunday, Nov. 1.
If you plan to celebrate Halloween with some spooky drinks, police are urging you to plan ahead by designating a sober driver or using a rideshare service.
Trick-or-treaters are encouraged to stay alert, use caution throughout the night, and look out for one another.
“Most importantly, suspicious behaviors should be reported to law enforcement promptly,” TPD said.
Call 911 in an emergency, or find the nearest officer. For non-emergencies, call 813-231-6130.
“Halloween brings our community together in many ways, from neighborhood trick-or-treating to the large-scale events taking place throughout the city. As thousands prepare to celebrate, our priority is ensuring everyone can enjoy the festivities safely,” said Acting Chief Brett Owen in TPD’s announcement. “We ask residents and visitors to look out for one another, use good judgment, and do their part to keep Halloween fun and safe for everyone.”
