TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WINK) — The Florida Department of Education said on Thursday it responded to a data breach involving unauthorized criminal access to department information.

The department said it activated its cybersecurity response protocols as soon as it identified the threat. It said it then stopped the unauthorized activity, contained the incident and secured its systems.

The Florida DOE said it provided the required notice of the security breach to the Office of the Attorney General. It also said it partnered with the Florida Digital Service and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in its response to the event.

The department said it remained committed to transparency and would release more information as details were verified.
