ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — St. Lucie Public Schools will dismiss students one hour early Monday and cancel all after-school activities as heavy rainfall and flooding continue to impact the county.
The district announced that all students will be dismissed one hour earlier than their regularly scheduled dismissal times. All after-school activities, including aftercare programs, have also been canceled.
The changes come after parts of St. Lucie County received up to 6 inches of rain.
Earlier Monday, the district announced that parents and guardians could pick up their children early, with one exception.
Oak Hammock K-8 School is not allowing early pickups because of flooding in front of the school, according to the district. It was not immediately clear how the flooding would affect the school’s updated dismissal schedule.
