17 people shot, 3 killed in 6 violent encounters over Halloween weekend that included an officer-involved shooting

  • November 3, 2026

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three people were killed and 14 others were wounded in six shootings across Jacksonville over Halloween weekend, including an officer-involved shooting at a Northside apartment complex, authorities said.

The victims who died were a 17-year-old girl, a 20-year-old man and an adult man believed to be in his late 20s, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The 20-year-old man, who was killed outside a large house party on the Westside, has been identified by family members as Isaiah Goodson.

The girl was among three people shot early Sunday outside the Regency Inn on Arlington Expressway, where people were waiting to enter a Halloween party, police said.

Investigators believe an argument escalated into gunfire. The girl and the other victims were not involved in the dispute, police said. The two injured people were taken to hospitals.

For people living nearby, those gunshots happened a little too close to home.

“The first time, it was a couple of shots, and then the second time, it was a couple of rounds and there was a car that flew by,” the neighbor said. “Boom, and then there were two Black guys that were lying here, and it seemed like one of them was shot or holding his ankle or something below. Something below his waist and they lay here in front of my yard.”

He said at first he didn’t know what was happening or where the gunshots were coming from. All he knew was that his family was inside and he was worried those bullets could hit his home.

“This corner got shot up or something; it literally felt like we was getting shot up at the house,” he said.

Hours later, gunfire erupted outside the house party near Wilcox and 5th streets on Jacksonville’s Westside, killing Goodson and injuring nine others, including a 15-year-old girl, police said.

Investigators believe the party, attended by about 100 to 200 people, spilled into the street. No suspects were in custody.

A woman in her 30s was shot and injured early Saturday during a large gathering along Atlantic Boulevard, police said. She was hospitalized in stable condition. The shooting prompted nearby business owners to raise concerns about recurring late-night crowds.

On Sunday evening, officers responding to a shooting on East 27th Street found a man with a gunshot wound. He died at a hospital, police said. The victim was believed to be in his late 20s. Multiple people were detained and interviewed as detectives investigated.

In a separate shooting on 103rd Street just east of I-295, a man in his 40s was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said. The suspect was unknown, and multiple people were detained.

The weekend’s final incident unfolded Sunday at a Northside apartment complex on Broxton Bay Drive.

Officers responding to reports of gunfire encountered a man they believed had been shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Police said the man drew a handgun and turned toward officers, who fired. He was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. No officers were hurt.

Investigations into the shootings are ongoing. Anyone with information about any of these incidents is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500, email JSOCRIMETIPS@JAXSHERIFF.ORG or call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
