The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without a key member of their defensive line for the remainder of the 2026 season after nose tackle DaVon Hamilton reportedly suffered a torn quadriceps muscle during Sunday’s 42-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The injury is expected to sideline the 29-year-old for the rest of the campaign, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Hamilton is scheduled to undergo further medical evaluation.

Hamilton was injured in the second quarter at EverBank Stadium while attempting to shed blocks during a defensive play. He remained on the field before being taken off on a cart and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the game. Despite the significant injury, Jacksonville coach Liam Coen praised Hamilton’s attitude and leadership, describing how the veteran remained positive and reassuring following the incident.

The loss is particularly significant for a Jacksonville defense that has been among the NFL’s strongest against the run. Hamilton started all seven games this season and recorded 16 tackles, four quarterback hits, half a sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. His ability to occupy blockers and disrupt running lanes has made him an important contributor to the Jaguars’ defensive success, even when his impact does not always show up on the stat sheet.

Originally selected by Jacksonville in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, Hamilton has developed into one of the team’s most dependable defensive linemen. He has appeared in 93 career games, making 68 starts while accumulating 260 tackles, 22 quarterback hits, 18 tackles for loss and six sacks. His injury also comes during the final year of his three-year, $34.5 million contract extension, leaving his future with the franchise another consideration heading into the offseason.

Hamilton’s absence could force Jacksonville to explore additional defensive line options as the team continues its push toward the postseason. Ruke Orhorhoro, Arik Armstead and rookie Albert Regis are among the players who could be called upon to help fill the void. With the NFL trade deadline approaching, the Jaguars may also consider outside reinforcements to maintain the strength of a defense that has been central to their success this season.
