PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Port St. Lucie voters assigned to Precinct 90 at Legacy High School can vote there Tuesday, despite flooding and road closures that are making it difficult to reach the polling location, the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections office confirmed to CBS12 News.

The elections office is directing voters to take Midway Road and Glade Extension to get to the school. CBS12 News had a crew on the scene who said they encountered flooding and roadblocks on Southwest Village Parkway earlier Tuesday and had to turn around. Police had blocked that entrance, but voters could reach Legacy High School by taking an alternate route.

The flooding and changing information about the polling location caused confusion for some voters.

CBS12 News Paige Meyer reported that voters were being directed to Tradition Town Hall, though it could take a couple of hours to get the site ready.

Voter Tommy Sharpe said he was directed there but was told he could not vote because it was not his assigned precinct. He said he was then told Legacy was open and he would need to take a back route.

Sharpe said the detour to Legacy would add 20 to 35 minutes to his drive.

Voters who cannot reach Legacy High School can go to the Tradition office at 10-267 Southwest Village Parkway, where election staff can print a vote-by-mail ballot. Voters can complete and sign the ballot and return it as directed by staff, the elections office said.

Port St. Lucie voters are choosing the city’s next mayor Tuesday.
