A haunting video has resurfaced showing the Austin tech CEO killed in a Florida private jet crash, discussing the luxury of flying private and how he came to afford the lavish lifestyle.
On Sunday, Nov. 1, a Learjet aircraft departing from Austin crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, killing nine people, including Austin tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson and his wife Helen Sharp, and their two children, their nanny, and two close friends.
In the video, Robinson spoke at length about flying in private jets and how he began using them regularly. In the video, Robinson spoke about “Wall Street friends” and “hedge fund guys” that he was in circles with, who used the services regularly.
“You know, it was like you’d be sitting at a dinner table and then a guy would whip out his phone, and it’d be like, ‘ Do you guys want to go to Vegas like tomorrow morning?” Robinson said. “Like, we can go on a PJ? Yeah, actually, that sounds amazing.”
Robinson said in the video that he learned flying private costs only a couple thousand dollars a month and began using it regularly, taking trips from New York to Chicago and other cities.
As his business ventures took off, Robinson said he could finally afford the kind of travel he had once admired from the sidelines.
“This feeling that I got of like wow, I can actually fly private too,” Robinson said. ” I like understand in the status that I got, you know, it’s like it became part of my identity.”
The video has taken on a haunting significance following Sunday’s deadly crash, which killed Robinson, his wife, Helen Sharp, their two children, their nanny and two close friends.
The Federal Aviation Administration reports that the Learjet 60, a mid-size aircraft, took off from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and crashed close to Cresthaven, Florida, at approximately 11:50 a.m. The plane appears to miss the surrounding buildings and cars as it nose-dives into the ground and erupts in flames at the edge of a roadway, according to dash-cam footage.

An investigation is currently underway by the National Transportation Safety Board. The NTSB stated that weather would be a primary focus of the investigation, but the cause of the incident has not yet been officially identified.
Robinson was a 2003 Rice University graduate and founded RBEB and Retention.com. He was also listed as the founder and CEO of MoltSets.
