CAPE CORAL, Fla. —
A man was arrested during Monday’s Cape Coral City Council meeting after being accused of disturbing the peace.
According to an arrest report, officers with the Cape Coral Police Department responded to the meeting chambers at City Hall on Cultural Park Boulevard in reference to a disturbance.
During the council meeting, officers say that Kyle L’Hommedieu, 45, was engaged in repeated disruptive conduct that interfered with proceedings. The report says that L’Hommedieu was repeatedly clapping and yelling over Mayor John Gunter while standing between the podium and audience seating.
L’Hommedieu reportedly encouraged other audience members to participate, and eventually Gunter directed that he be removed from the chambers. L’Hommedieu reportedly refused to leave, and told officers that the only way that he was leaving the meeting would be in handcuffs.
Gunter eventually called a recess to the meeting proceedings, and during the interruption L’Hommedieu was escorted out of the room in handcuffs, the report says. He was eventually arrested.
L’Hommedieu faces a charge of disturbing the peace.
