‘These three idiots:’ Central Florida Halloween party ends in shooting, sheriff says

  • November 3, 2026

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Three men were arrested after a fight at a Halloween party in Palm Coast escalated over the weekend, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they responded to a “weapons disturbance” at a home along Robinson Drive early Sunday morning.

At the time, a victim reportedly told them Braxton Samuels, 22, punched him in the face after using a racial slur. Another partygoer intervened and tackled Samuels, the victim said.

The victim then told deputies that while they were on the ground, two other men — later identified as Logan DaSilva, 18, and Iain Smith, 22 — pointed guns at him and the intervening partygoer.

As the two victims prepared to leave in a vehicle, a shot was fired in an unknown direction, with one of the victims believing DaSilva fired it, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said Smith told them he owned two firearms, which they found in his vehicle and residence. Samuels told deputies he had a gun and fired one shot into the ground; he also said DaSilva fired a shot into the ground.

All three were arrested and now face the following charges:

Samuels: Battery, improper exhibition of a firearm, and discharging a firearm on residential property

DaSilva: Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill (two counts), improper exhibition of a firearm, and discharging a firearm on residential property

Smith: Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill (two counts)

All three were taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and later released on bond: $3,000 for Samuels, $15,000 for DaSilva, and $10,000 for Smith.

“These three idiots turned a fun party into a Halloween nightmare, and I’m thankful nobody was seriously injured or killed as a result of their actions,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “One guy started the fight and the other two escalated it when they threatened the victims with guns. That got them an orange Halloween costume at the Green Roof Inn.”
