It’s election day, and polls throughout Tampa Bay are open.
At Concord Baptist Church, the street is serene and there’s no line to vote. It’s a beautiful and sunny afternoon and there’s a mild breeze coming from the nearby bay.
Yesenia is a Palmetto Beach resident who just cast her ballot at the polling place.
“I’m very happy and excited because I’m waiting for this day,” she told WMNF. “I’m just saying I’m excited. You know, for better change for my community, for my family, you know, for schools, for the county, and for the state too.”
Yesenia picked up a “future voter” sticker for her son, who she says can vote in two years.
She said voting was a breeze and that everyone should take the time to do it.
“The ladies, they are very friendly. So it’s very easy,” Yesenia said. “Just take a minute, come to vote, and that’s it.”
Polling places are open until 7 p.m. this evening. Anyone still waiting in line when polls close will still be allowed to vote.
