Sen. Ashley Moody (R-Florida) has won a special election to retain her seat, defeating Democratic state lawmaker Angie Nixon in a contest that most had seen as a safe race for Republicans.

Moody, a former state attorney general, was appointed to the seat in 2025 to fill the unexpired term of Marco Rubio, who resigned to become secretary of state. She will be up for election again in two years.
