Derrick ShawCAPE CORAL, Fla. —

A Cape Coral man was arrested Monday after police said he grabbed a teenage girl and confronted a school employee during a high school football game.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department arrest report, the incident happened Oct. 29 at Cape Coral High School. Police said the man was seen grabbing the girl’s arm before raising his fists toward a school employee and later running from an officer.

The officer, who was working security at the game, said he saw the man block the girl from walking away and grab her arm. After the officer ordered him to let her go, a school employee approached and told the man to speak with the officer.

According to the affidavit, the man then raised both fists toward the employee. The employee told police the man pushed him in the chest before running away.

The officer said he chased the man and ordered him to stop while holding a stun gun, but he continued running, according to the report.

Police later identified the man as Ernesto Javier Frenes Oviedo, 18. Investigators said school video, a statement from the teenage girl and a GoFan ticket record helped identify him.

The school employee told police he wanted to press charges. Investigators said he had a red mark on his chest after the incident, and police listed a photo of the injury among the evidence.

Frenes Oviedo was arrested Nov. 2 and faces charges of battery on a public education employee, a third-degree felony; assault on a public education employee, a first-degree misdemeanor; and resisting an officer without violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

The affidavit also states the teenage girl was grabbed by the arm, but police said she and her parent had not decided whether to pursue a battery charge.

Frenes Oviedo is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 7.
