8-year-old calls 911, gives Narcan to dad, Florida sheriff says

An 8-year-old boy called 911 and gave his dad Narcan after finding him unconscious, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said in a Facebook post. “This is an example of the sad reality the effect drugs have in our community,” he said. Chitwood said deputies responded to the house in Edgewater where Daniel Johnson, 44, was taken to a hospital for treatment before being booked in the Volusia County Branch Jail on charges of child neglect, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia.Chitwood said Johnson told deputies “he smoked Heroin earlier in the day in the garage and instructed his son on what to do if something happened to him.””I want to commend the bravery of this young boy who, at just eight years old, was forced into a situation no child should ever have to face,” Chitwood said on Facebook. “His courage undoubtedly saved his dad’s life, but it’s tragic that he has to experience such trauma at such a young age.”
