City plans to turn old Cape Coral Golf Course into park; your ideas wanted
The City of Cape Coral is set to hold a public meeting to discuss future plans of the Old Golf Course and invites residents to attend and share their thoughts on what should happen to it.

The City of Cape Coral is set to hold a public meeting to discuss future plans for the Old Golf Course and invites residents to attend and share their thoughts on its potential development. The golf course was purchased by the city in August 2025, after remaining empty and abandoned for nearly 20 years. Since purchasing it, they have cleared the 175-acre property and established a five-step planning timeline for the project.This public meeting would be the second step of five, with the final step being the master plan, set for spring 2026.The city says they are planning for park development, and residents like Aleta Hofmann say they hope the city follows through with that plan, saying, “I’d like to see it made into a decent park. Something where the kids can go, and a dog park.”The meeting will be held at the Cape Coral Public Works Operations Center at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13.If you are unable to attend the meeting, you can complete the online master plan survey to share your ideas.
