The list of available players who played on recent Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl teams continues to grow with news of another player’s release.
According to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Jacksonville Jaguars released veteran defensive tackle Khalen Saunders on Thursday. The former two-time Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs ends his brief tenure in Jacksonville after being traded to the team from the New Orleans Saints during last offseason.
Saunders initially signed a three-year, $14.5 million contract with New Orleans in 2023 to leave the Chiefs. He appeared in two games this season for Jacksonville, recording three assisted tackles.
The Chiefs selected Saunders in the third round with the 84th overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft. He had his best season in Kansas City in 2022, finishing with 48 total tackles and 3.5 sacks. The familiarity with Steve Spagnuolo’s defense and the Chiefs’ need for more experience on the defensive line could be a solid fit if general manager Brett Veach decides to make the signing.
