Lee Health has opened a new facility in Cape Coral, offering a comprehensive range of outpatient services.
This new center has multiple services under one roof, providing easier access for families in Cape Coral and Pine Island.
“The equipment that we brought is state of the art,” said David Rybicki, Vice President for Outpatient Services at Lee Health.
Rybicki provided a tour of the facility, showcasing adult primary care rooms, cardiology services, and imaging spaces. The center also includes lab services and infectious disease care, with plans to open a breast center in January.
Halge Weekes, a Cape Coral resident, expressed the importance of having all necessary healthcare services under one roof.
“When you have a health problem, you want to be taken care of right there. You don’t have to be coordinating,” said Weekes. “All the doctors, all the facilities, all the testing, whether it’s radiology or blood, can be taken care of right there.”
In response to the area’s rapidly growing population of all ages, Lee Health included children’s care at the Bimini location.
“This was only supposed to be a bedroom community for adults 30 years ago. Now, it’s full-blown families and families with children should have someplace special that they can go to,” said Mark Brady, another resident, commenting on the partnership with Golasino’s Children’s Hospital. “That is a nice idea.”
The facility offers children’s primary care and behavioral health services, with pediatric rehabilitation services expected to be available by January.
“We are just super happy to be here in providing an additional access point for the people of Cape Coral,” said Rybicki.
Lee Health continues to expand its presence in the community with plans for a 90,000 square foot building at Veterans Parkway and Santa Barbara Boulevard. This new facility, set to open in two years, will offer specialized services including oncology, orthopedics, cardiology, radiology, and lab services.
Brady emphasized the need for more specialized hospitals in the area.
“They need more specialized hospitals like they have in Fort Myers rather than just treating you and stabilizing you here because they’re not specialists,” said Brady. “They should have their own specialty hospital here because of the growth.”
The new Lee Health facility is conveniently located next to a parking garage, ensuring quick and easy access for patients.
Lee Health has been working for years to increase medical access for Cape Coral’s growing population. The upcoming facility expansion aims to provide more specialized care to the community.
