1 dead after losing control of vehicle on Pine Island Rd.

A crash occurred near Pine Island Road and Southwest 19th Avenue when a driver lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a large utility pole.

Cape Coral police confirmed that the driver was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash Friday morning.

Authorities reported it was a single-vehicle crash with only one occupant.

The driver left the roadway before colliding with the utility pole.
