Earlier this week, members of the Winter Park City Commission hired a Tampa consulting firm to help create a citywide trail network that links existing trails and improves safety with a possible new RR bridge over U.S. 17-92.
Known as the Heritage Market Trail, the proposed alignment would create a master trail system that connects existing trails, like the Cady Way Trail, Baldwin Lake Loop Trail and Maitland Rail Trail among others, with neighborhoods to create a more unified bike and pedestrian experience across Winter Park.
Tampa-based engineering firm Kisinger Campo & Associates will be conducting the feasibility assessment, with Winter Springs firm Pegasus Engineering providing services as a sub-consultant. The study has a maximum cost of $93,031.
Their evaluation will consist of a cost analysis, business and resident impact assessment, and constructability. They also will identify funding sources and meet with relevant city and state transportation agencies.

Kisinger Campo Chief Engineer Erik Fleming told commissioners the study would produce a concept sheet with a construction cost estimate. As part of the cost analysis, engineers will research the possibility of a new railroad bridge over U.S. 17-92.
Before advancing the project, the city would need to conduct further studies, including environmental and right-of-way cost estimates, to develop a conceptual plan.
Campo’s will submit its findings in 150 days.
