GOOD. LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AFTER SEAN ROSE WON THE DISTRICT FIVE RACE FOR ORLANDO CITY COMMISSIONER, ONE OF HER RIVALS, FORMER COMMISSIONER REGINA HILL, IS CONTESTING THE RESULTS WITH A LAWSUIT IN THE SUIT. HILL CLAIMS ILLEGAL CAMPAIGNING AND UNLAWFUL HANDLING OF ABSENTEE BALLOTS CHANGED THE OUTCOME OF THE ELECTION. SO SHE WANTS A JUDGE TO THROW OUT THE RESULTS. WESH TWO SUMMER KNOWLES JOINS US LIVE IN STUDIO TO BREAK DOWN HER CLAIMS AND DETAIL EXACTLY WHAT SHE WANTS TO SEE HAPPEN. SUMMER. HEY GUYS. WELL, TONIGHT IN A LAWSUIT FILED WITH ORANGE COUNTY, HILL BASICALLY SAYS SHE’S NOT READY TO ACCEPT THE OUTCOME BECAUSE SHE THINKS THE ELECTION WAS NEITHER FREE NOR FAIR. SO SHE’S NOW ASKING A JUDGE TO INVALIDATE THE ELECTION, SET ASIDE THOSE RESULTS AND DECLARE HER THE WINNER OR CALL FOR A NEW ELECTION ALTOGETHER. THANK YOU. DISTRICT FIVE. FOR. THIS WAS ELECTION NIGHT. WILL TAKE TONIGHT. REGROUP, AND TOMORROW COMES. AND FOR TONIGHT, I CONGRATULATE THE. COMMISSIONER. ROSE. I WISH HER ALL THE BEST. I PRAY FOR HER. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE HARDSHIPS AND HEARTACHES THAT SHE’S GOING THROUGH. SO I WISH HER ALL THE BEST. HOPEFULLY WE CAN WORK TOGETHER AS THINGS PLAY OUT. BUT I’M HERE. MY DOOR IS OPEN WITH BOTH CANDIDATES. A SEEMINGLY AMICABLE ENDING TO AN EXTENDED AND AT TIMES INTENSE POLITICAL FEUD BETWEEN FORMER ORLANDO CITY COMMISSIONER REGINA HILL AND HER APPOINTED REPLACEMENT, SHANIQUA ROSE. BUT THE CALM DIDN’T LAST LONG. TEN DAYS AFTER VOTERS CAST THEIR BALLOTS TO DECIDE WHO WOULD BECOME THEIR DISTRICT FIVE CITY COMMISSIONER HILL HAS FILED A LAWSUIT CHALLENGING THE OUTCOME OF THE ELECTION. THE EIGHT PAGE COMPLAINT CITES A FLORIDA STATUTE THAT ALLOWS A CANDIDATE OR VOTER TO LEGALLY CONTEST AN ELECTION IF THEY CAN PROVE THAT MISCONDUCT, ILLEGAL VOTES, IN VOTERS, BRIBERY OR OTHER VIOLATIONS IMPACTED THE OUTCOME, OR CAST DOUBT ON THE ELECTION RESULT. HILL ALLEGES THAT ROSE OR SOMEONE ON HER BEHALF OFFERED VOTERS HEALTH TESTING AND SCREENINGS VALUED AT 25 TO $3500, AS WELL AS $45 GIFT CARDS TO ENTICE VOTES FOR ROSE, ACCORDING TO STATE LAW, OFFERING VOTERS MONEY, PROPERTY AND OR THINGS OF VALUE IN EXCHANGE FOR THEIR VOTE IS ILLEGAL. THE LAWSUIT ALSO CLAIMS ABSENTEE BALLOTS WERE COLLECTED FROM VOTERS WITHOUT LAWFUL CHAIN OF CUSTODY, INCLUDING BALLOTS CAST BY RESIDENTS WHO, HILL ALLEGES, SAY THEY NEVER FILLED OUT A BALLOT OR CAST A VOTE. AS A RESULT, THE LAWSUIT REQUESTS A JUDGE DECLARE THE ELECTION INVALID. ORDER THE CANVASING BOARD TO DECLARE HILL THE WINNER OR ORDER A NEW ELECTION, AND ALSO AWARD HILL OTHER RELIEF DEEMED JUST AND APPROPRIATE. NOW, WE DID REACH OUT TO THE DEFENDANTS IN THIS CASE, SHANNON ROSE AND THE CITY OF ORLANDO’S CANVASING BOARD FOR COMMENT TONIGHT. COMMISSIONER ELECT ROSE DID RESPOND WITHIN THE LAST 30 MINUTES OR SO, AND SHE SAID, NO COMMENT. WE HAVE NOT YE

Less than two weeks after Shan Rose won the District 5 race for Orlando City Commissioner, former Commissioner Regina Hill filed a lawsuit contesting the election results, alleging illegal campaigning and unlawful handling of absentee ballots. On election night, Shan Rose expressed gratitude to her supporters, saying, “Thank you, District Five. Four more years? Four more years.” Regina Hill congratulated Rose, stating, “We’ll take tonight and regroup then tomorrow comes, but for tonight. Congratulations to Commissioner Rose.” Rose also extended an olive branch, saying, “I wish her the best. No one should have to go through the hardships and heartache she’s been going through, so I wish her all the best. Hopefully, we can work together as things play out. I’m here, and my arms are open to both candidates.”Despite the seemingly amicable ending to the intense political feud between Hill and Rose, Hill filed an eight-page complaint citing a Florida statute that allows a candidate or voter to contest an election if misconduct, illegal votes, ineligible voters, bribery, or other violations impacted the outcome or cast doubt on the election result. Hill alleges that Rose or someone on her behalf offered voters health testing and screenings valued at $2,500 to $3,500, as well as $45 gift cards to entice votes for Rose, which is illegal under state law.The lawsuit also claims absentee ballots were collected from voters without a lawful chain of custody, including ballots cast by residents who Hill alleges say they never filled out a ballot or cast a vote. As a result, the lawsuit requests a judge declare the election invalid, order the canvassing board to declare Hill the winner, or order a new election, and award Hill other relief deemed just and appropriate. When asked about the lawsuit, Rose replied, “No comment.” Meanwhile, the city of Orlando’s canvassing board, also named in the suit, has not yet responded to requests for comment.
