The grocery landscape in Florida is changing fast. In less than a year, longtime Winn-Dixie and Harveys locations have flipped to Aldi, reshaping where many residents will shop for weekly staples — and signaling a big shift in local grocery identity.

Jacksonville, the longtime headquarters city of Winn-Dixie, is now one of Aldi’s most active conversion markets following the grocery chain’s 2024 acquisition of Southeastern Grocers. Aldi said it plans to convert more than 200 former Winn-Dixie and Harveys locations nationwide by 2027, with Northeast Florida seeing some of the first transformations in the state.

The company does not release a full list of locations ahead of time, but permits, signage and store closures provide a clear picture of which grocery sites are actively shifting to the Aldi format in Florida.

Aldi has at least 17 more Florida locations in progress with plans to open 225 new stores in 2025, the most ever opened in a single year, and 800 by the end of 2028.
