It’s no secret that Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is the top target for Florida after the program fired Billy Napier on Oct. 19.

However, the Gators aren’t the only team that has interest in Kiffin. The Tennessee Titans have been tied to Kiffin in recent days. He’s expected to consider the open LSU gig.
Of course, he could sign a contract extension with Ole Miss.

On Friday, The Athletic reported that the situation between Kiffin and Ole Miss is “trending in a positive direction” before the Rebels host Florida on Saturday night. It’s possible Kiffin could sign a contract extension to stay in Oxford during the bye in Week 13.
Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus has an option B for the Gators. Chadwick is projecting Florida to poach Washington head coach Jedd Fisch.
“Florida is the other school vying for Kiffin and could very well beat LSU for his services,” Chadwick wrote. “But with Kiffin (hypothetically) off the board, the Gators go with Washington head coach Jedd Fisch. Fisch a Florida alum who spent two years as a graduate assistant there under Steve Spurrier after he graduated.
“Fisch has done a solid job over the last three seasons at Arizona and now with the Huskies, compiling a 22-13 record since 2023. He’s not the splashiest hire that the Gators could make, but he has familiarity with the program and could provide some much-needed stability in Gainesville.”
Earlier this week, Fisch told the media that he enjoyed coaching the Huskies and is proud of what he has helped build at Washington. Fisch’s comments came amid rumors that the head coach was looking for an exit from Seattle after his family moved back to Arizona.
Florida would be a hard job for Fisch to turn down if offered. He grew up a fan of Florida’s legendary head coach Steve Spurrier.
It’ll be interesting to see if his name receives more smoke around Gainsville if Kiffin chooses not to sign with Florida.
