Florida judge temporarily blocks transfer of prime downtown Miami land for Trump’s library

The vote comes days after a Miami activist alleged officials at a local college violated Florida’s open government law when they gifted the valuable plot of real estate to the state. In turn, Florida voted to transfer it to the foundation for the planned presidential library.

State executes 14th person this year

Samuel Lee-Smithers was convicted of killing two women in 1996 and was pronounced dead yesterday evening following a lethal injection at Florida State Prison. There are two more executions scheduled for this year.

Activists protest against former USF golf course development

The University of South Florida board of trustees voted to move forward with the development of a former golf course into a mixed-use area last month. Activists are planning to protest against it because it borders a nature preserve, Chris Young reports.

New proposed bill to require Florida teachers take an oath

The bill was filed this week by Republican representative Tom Fabricio and would require public school teachers take an oath similar to that taken by lawyers, doctors, and public officials.
