A breezy and warm end to your weekend for Tallahassee, the Big Bend and South Georgia

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Staying dry with temperatures above average over the next several days.

A Warm breeze Sunday afternoon

A cold front to our north is going to dive south today and help to generate some decent winds ahead of it, along with some afternoon and evening clouds. High temperatures will still reach the upper 70s to low 80s this afternoon.

The winds and the dry weather will also combine for elevated fire danger this afternoon, especially for communities in South Georgia, where the fire risk is extreme today. Lower fire risk in Florida, but it will still be important to avoid burning near dry brush and grass until we get some meaningful rain.

Rain chances remain ZERO for the majority of next week. Temperatures each afternoon will climb into the upper 70s and low 80s, which is above average for mid-November. Lows in the upper 40s to upper 50s most mornings this week.

There is a small chance for showers heading into next weekend. Yesterday, the front looked like it arrived as early as Friday, the models back slowed down on the arrival of the front today. That means a later start for shower chances. The timing of this front is likely to change over the next few days, so continue to check back for updates. Even if the front does manage to arrive next weekend, the rain totals are not looking impressive with this. So, it is unlikely that the drought will get any better over the next week. Matter of fact, it is likely to get worse with the above average afternoons.

As moisture starts to increase next week, morning fog will be something to watch out for much of the week, especially Wednesday into the weekend.

Tracking the tropics

In the Atlantic, hurricane season is officially over in 15 days. There is nothing that is raising eyebrows in the Atlantic, Caribbean or Gulf right now and should be nothing to worry about as we wrap up this year’s season.
