In a star-studded celebration, the newest jewel of Princess Cruises made her grand debut in Fort Lauderdale. Star Princess was officially named by Hollywood leading man Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila.

The couple christened the ship in true maritime tradition, breaking a bottle of their own Pantalones Organic Tequila to bless the ship, followed by a powerhouse performance from Grammy Award-winning singer Sheryl Crow.

“It’s an honor to follow in the footsteps of past godparents and welcome Star Princess into the Princess fleet,” says Camila and Matthew McConaughey. “We are excited to share this moment with the guests who step aboard – coming together with family and friends, making new memories, and sharing a Pantalones cocktail, or two.”

A shimmering drone show closed the evening, celebrating the ship’s future.

“Today’s naming ceremony is a milestone filled with pride and joy for everyone at Princess Cruises,” says Gus Antorcha, Princess Cruises President. “Star Princess is a stunning reflection of our legacy and our future…”

The 177,800-ton Star Princess accommodates 4,300 guests, featuring over 1,500 balcony staterooms, and showcases Princess Cruises’ exceptional guest service, dedicated crew, distinctive dining, and elevated entertainment.
