Lane Kiffin has officially become the busiest man in college football, and Florida fans are watching every twist like its the season finale of a drama series.

According to a new report from On3, Ole Miss is looking for clarity this week on whether Kiffin plans to stay in Oxford. With the Rebels sitting on the edge of their first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff, the program wants answers.

Both the Gators and LSU have made Kiffin their top target, and interest has now escalated to the point where his family reportedly visited Gainesville on Sunday before heading to Baton Rouge on Monday.

And that’s where things get complicated.

Per On3, Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter wants a firm answer before next week’s Egg Bowl — a move that signals just how urgent this has become inside the Rebels program.

This isn’t just a casual “check-in.” It’s a deadline. And when an SEC school starts drawing lines in the sand, it usually means they know real pressure is coming from somewhere else.

Ole Miss has already put an extension on the table, so the obvious question becomes, what exactly is Kiffin waiting for? Is he feeling out what Florida and LSU are willing to offer and then daring the Rebels to match or beat it?

At this point, Kiffin’s running the price up, and he knows he holds every card in the deck.

And according to On3’s Brett McMurphy, that deadline comes with massive consequences. If Kiffin does not meet it, Ole Miss would then have to decide whether they would even allow him to coach in the postseason.

Ole Miss is on the cusp of the biggest moment in program history, and yet the most important question they face isn’t about an opponent — it’s whether their head coach will even be on the sideline.

If there is no resolution, the decision becomes agonizing for both Kiffin and the Rebels: Does he stay and see out a historic playoff run? Or does he walk into a new job knowing he left Ole Miss in limbo?
