Police are investigating a shooting in Miami that left a man hospitalized as surveillance video showed the aftermath of the gunfire.
The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday in the area of North Miami Avenue and 71st Street in Little Haiti.
Miami Police said a man who’s around 40 was shot in the buttocks and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Exclusive surveillance video showed the man riding a bicycle before he was apparently wounded in the shooting. He appears to flag down a police officer before apparently collapsing.
Police have released few details but a witness said it was a drive-by shooting and a woman pulled the trigger.
“I seen a man riding on a bike, come across the street and a car just come by and start shooting at the guy. And once they start shooting at the guy he fell on the floor,” the witness said. “Yes, it was a woman that shot from the car.”
Police out yellow tape around a bicycle that was left at the scene as they investigated.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, we believe that it could have been a female that shot at him but it’s still too early to make that determination,” Miami Police spokesman Michael Vega said. “We believe that there was a vehicle involved and that the vehicle did flee the area.”
Vega said the victim was expected to make a full recovery.
Officials haven’t released any other details on a suspected shooter but the shooting remains under investigation.
