The body of a missing Port St. Lucie child was found in a neighborhood lake Monday night, police confirm.
Police responded to the 5200 block of Northwest Wisk Fern Circle at around 4:30 p.m. after getting reports of a 5-year-old missing, identified as Neymir Luka Valere.
Valere was nonverbal and on the autism spectrum.

Units, including road patrol, K9, drone pilots, the Marine Unit and Air Unit from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, canvassed the area for hours to find Neymir, who was ultimately located in a lake at around 11:30 p.m.
Police say foul play is not suspected, and the investigation is ongoing.
Project Livesaver
Last month, WPTV reported that the city’s Project Lifesaver safety program, which helps track individuals prone to wandering, will continue operating after receiving new funding.
Project Lifesaver provides tracking devices to individuals who may be at risk of eloping, like those with autism, Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. The devices allow law enforcement locate missing persons using specialized transmitters.
