Following a Week 11 win, the Jacksonville Jaguars are signing a veteran safety to their practice squad.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jaguars are bringing in Juan Thornhill, who was recently released by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Thornhill is a former second-round draft pick in 2019 by the Kansas City Chiefs. Over his career, he has appeared in 96 games, which includes making 75 starts.
During that span, Thornhill has allowed a completion rate of 64.2% on 187 targets, while making 399 total tackles, and recording eight interceptions with 23 pass breakups.
His most productive season came in 2022, when he came away with three interceptions and eight pass breakups. Quarterbacks also had a cumulative passer rating of 76.2 that year when targeting him.

According to PFF, the bulk of Thornhill’s playing time has come as a free safety, but he has box and nickel experience as well.
This addition comes while Eric Murray is on injured reserve. Without Murray, Antonio Johnson has been starting next to Andrew Wingard.
Thornhill provides the Jaguars with experienced depth at the position if they choose to elevate him on game days. Under Anthony Campanile, we have seen our share of three safety looks from Jacksonville this season.
