A Gulfport man was arrested in Florida in connection with a murder in Slidell. According to St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, Nov. 14, deputies were dispatched to an apartment on West End Boulevard near Slidell for a welfare check on a 66-year-old man. When they responded to the scene, they found the man dead inside his home. Deputies also said his black Chevrolet Tahoe was missing. Detectives learned that the last person to be with the man was his nephew, Cecil Hall, 36, of Gulfport, Mississippi.Deputies in Broward County and Miami-Dade were able to locate Hall on Saturday in the Miami area, driving his uncle’s car. Hall led police on a pursuit before crashing into a Florida Highway Patrol cruiser, crashing and flipping the Tahoe. He was arrested and booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail for aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon, fleeing and eluding, and grand theft of a motor vehicle. A firearm was taken from the apartment in Slidell and was recovered inside the Tahoe. An arrest warrant was issued for Hall’s arrest in St. Tammany on charges of first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, and theft of a firearm.
