Key Biscayners show up for each other. We check on neighbors after storms, we pitch in for school events and we rally when a local project needs help.

Give Miami Day, this Thursday, Nov. 20, is our chance to focus that spirit on one powerful day to maximize impact.

Give Miami Day turns individual generosity into collective strength and is one of the largest, single-day, philanthropic events in the country. The dollars raised are flexible, helping organizations meet urgent needs, expand critical programs and cover the essentials to keep services running.

On Key Biscayne, dozens of island-rooted initiatives are participating under the Key Biscayne Community Foundation’s (KBCF’s) charitable umbrella, each one started or championed by those local to the area and familiar with the needs of the community.

“Give Miami Day is our moment to take the generosity Key Biscayne is known for and extend it far beyond the island,” said Melissa White, Executive Director of KBCF. “Every gift, big or small, fuels the programs our neighbors rely on and strengthens the county in which we live. That collective spirit is what makes it feel like Give Miami Day is powered by Key Biscayne.”

To help determine which cause is most important to each person, the organizations have been grouped into clear categories to simplify finding the best fit:

Be a changemaker by supporting Give Miami Day

Volunteers and local kids at a Michael’s Magic Camp event

• Environment and Animal Welfare

• Youth and Education; Arts, Culture, and Heritage

• Community and Civic Life

• Scholarship and Academic Achievement

• Veterans and First Responders.

These categories reflect the ideas valued by the community and showcase the exceptional work being done that’s already making a difference.

Give Miami Day is a chance to turn dollars into action. All funds donated will go towards helping keep beaches and mangroves clean, expanding educational opportunities for kids, preserving Key Biscayne’s history, strengthening civic life, giving thanks to our veterans and first responders and so much more!

The best part is that participation is easy! Visit, kbcf.org/givemiamiday where you can review the categories and read the missions of the organizations to see which ones resonate with the things you care about and make donations.

Other local organizations are also seeking your support, like the 75-year-old Key Biscayne Woman’s Club and Flying High 4 Haiti

Donations can be made now during early giving and continue until Midnight on Give Miami Day, Thursday, Nov. 20. Share the causes you support with friends and family. The more neighbors who take part, the farther every dollar goes.

Our island’s story is written by people who step up. There is a great deal of uncertainty in the world today, so this year let’s show how strong we are together. Give and support the ideals you care about, so initiatives with Key Biscayne roots can keep serving our island, our county, and the people who call this place home.
