PORT ST. LUCIE — Few things can top the sight of hundreds of bright red KONG toys tumbling from a helicopter under the Florida sun — unless it’s knowing that each one helps save a life.
The Humane Society of St. Lucie County’s annual KONG Drop and Pars Fore Paws Charity Golf Tournament once again filled The Saints Golf Course with cheers, laughter, and heartwarming purpose.
Presented by All Area Roofing and powered by the continued generosity of KONG Company, the two-day celebration combined sky-high thrills, friendly competition, and plenty of wagging tails — all to raise crucial funds for the shelter’s lifesaving work.
Festivities took off Friday evening with the much-anticipated KONG Drop, a spectacle that had everyone craning their necks skyward. As the helicopter hovered above, hundreds of KONG toys rained down like crimson confetti, each representing a chance to win prizes and support pets in need.
Guests toasted the moment with Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktails and local brews from Hop Life Brewing Company, mingling under string lights and sharing stories about their own four-legged family members. The air buzzed with excitement — and a touch of anticipation — for the next morning’s golf tournament.
Saturday dawned clear and bright, the perfect day to tee off for a cause. Golfers and animal lovers alike hit the greens for the Pars Fore Paws Charity Tournament, where camaraderie ran high and every swing carried a little extra meaning. Between shots, teams chatted about their pets, swapped tips, and posed for photos with adoptable shelter dogs wagging nearby.
By weekend’s end, the event’s success was measured not only in dollars raised, but in lives changed. Two dogs, Reggie and Toby, went home with new families — the purest testament to what the weekend was all about.
“Each year, this event grows in both excitement and impact,” said Shannon Glendinning, HSSLC’s Director of Development. “Reggie and Toby’s adoptions are a beautiful reminder of what that weekend was truly about — giving every animal a chance at a happy, loving life.”
“All Area Roofing is honored to be part of it,” added Jennifer Richards, the company’s owner. “We look forward to these events every year — they’re fun, they bring people together, and they truly make a difference for animals right here in our community.”
As the last putts dropped and the last tails wagged, one thing was clear: the Humane Society’s annual KONG Drop and Pars Fore Paws weekend has become more than a fundraiser — it’s a celebration of compassion, community, and second chances.
