ORLANDO, Fla. — Edgewater High School had a perfect regular season. The Eagles went 10-0 and are the top seed in the 5A Region 2 bracket. A big reason why is the play of senior quarterback Carter Emanuel.

He has thrown for close to 1,700 yards and 12 touchdowns this season while adding three touchdowns on the ground

“It’s been a great year going 10-0,” Edgewater senior quarterback Carter Emanuel said. “Everybody came together, and we’re like a huge family right now. I couldn’t have asked for a better team.”

“It’s been a lot of fun. It’s been fun to see the buy-in from the coaches and the players to really take on that 1-0 week mentality and try to continue to get better each week. It’s been a joy,” Edgewater football coach Patrick Browning said.

Emanuel threw for close to 1,700 yards and 12 touchdowns while adding three touchdowns on the ground during the regular season.

“First and foremost, he’s a phenomenal person. He’s embraced everything we’ve been trying to do offensively and just making his own craft better. I couldn’t be more proud of him,” Browning said.

After being injured during his sophomore year, the 6’2” quarterback transferred to Edgewater. He’s excelled on the field and his recruiting took off. Emanuel is now committed to play football at UConn.

“I’m extremely excited and taking off the pressure from last year not knowing where I would be, and this year knowing I can just play freely here and have fun with my guys,” Emanuel said.

“He’s a great kid, a great athlete. Rarely do you get a coach kid like him. So it’s just been special,” Browning said.

Edgewater takes on Tampa Bay Tech in the second round of the playoffs on Friday night.
