Katy Perry is said to be ‘having a lot of fun’ with new boyfriend Justin Trudeau – despite being shocked she ‘fell for someone so soon’.
Insiders told People about the couple’s flourishing romance, which left both showbiz fans and politicos in shock when they went public last month in Paris.
The songstress, who first sparked dating rumours with the former Canadian Prime Minister in July, announced her split from fiancé Orlando Bloom around the same time as the whispers began – something sources claim she did not ‘expect’.
Katy and Justin’s relationship debut came at her 41st birthday bash in the French capital, just days after images showed the duo enjoying a steamy boat day.
Sources have now said: ‘Justin keeps making a big effort to see her and she’s excited about it. [She has] a lot of fun with him. It’s exactly what she needs right now.’

On how the relationship has changed the politician, the source added: ‘He is a much happier person now. Stresses are greatly diminished. And he is intrigued with Katy. They have fun together, laugh a lot, talk about everything.’
Shortly before their first outing as a couple, sources revealed Katy is ‘really into’ her connection with Justin, saying: ”Katy is really into it. She’s very happy…
‘She’s trying to keep it low-key, and they’ve spent a lot of private time together. She’s not looking to publicize this relationship.’
Their romance comes after her Orlando split. The pair, who share five-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, began dating in 2016 and got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019.
The actor is also dad to 14-year-old son Flynn, whom he shares with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
Over the summer, representatives told Daily Mail: ‘Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting….
‘They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.’

And a source told Us Weekly in over the summer, ‘Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,’ while adding that the separation was not ‘contentious.’ The Woman’s World singer was previously married to Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.

He was the prime minister of Canada from 2015 to March 2025.
Multiple sources previously told Us Weekly in September that the unexpected couple were seeing each other.

‘They’ve decided to be much more private about it. They are still speaking and are very interested in each other,’ one person told the outlet.
Another person close to the pair said the relationship ‘isn’t serious’ due to Perry being ‘extremely busy’ on her Lifetimes tour.
‘Justin has made plans to see her when she has downtime in a few weeks when she gets back from her tour in Brazil,’ an insider said. ‘Katy is taking it day by day but is very open to dating.’
