A customer of three years at a bar on International Drive in Orlando attempted to kidnap one of the establishment’s employees on Sunday, according to the Orlando Police Department.Miguel Cardona, 56, overheard an employee saying she was waiting for the cost of Uber to go down so she could get home.According to OPD, Cardona then offered to give the victim a ride home so she didn’t have to pay $90 for a ride.The two of them got in Cardona’s vehicle, and he began to drive in the opposite direction from her house, OPD said.The victim told police that Cardona said they were going to hang out and go to another bar downtown. She told officers this is when she got upset and told Cardona that she wanted to be taken home or back to the bar she works at.Cardona proceeded to drive to a gas station, where he bought beer and said they were going to a hotel. The victim stated that she did not want that to happen, and it appeared as if he was going to take her back to the bar she works at until he missed the exit.According to OPD, the victim took off her seatbelt while they were stopped at a traffic light so she could try to exit the vehicle, but Cardona grabbed her and started to drive again. Cardona then started to strike her on the head multiple times. When the victim felt the vehicle stop again, she was able to exit the vehicle because she was able to get her seat belt off prior, OPD said.The victim escaped from the vehicle near the intersection of South Kirkman Road and International Drive and then walked back to the bar she works at, where she had friends take her home. He is charged with kidnapping, battery and possession of cocaine with intent to sell. OPD said a search incident to arrest Cardona revealed more than 10 small bags containing cocaine. Cardona was booked into the Orange County Jail.
